PoliticsNGR has just learned that Governor Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha,
on Sunday at the government House chapel, inaugurated a new
paramilitary outfit to combat illicit drugs in the various communities
of Imo State.
The Governor who recently declared war on illicit drugs, was reported to have created a special office for ILLICIT DRUGS AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS. The group, therefore, held her thanksgiving service at the Imo State Government House Chapel.
The group led by their Commandant Hon Mrs. Ijeoma Igboanusi were inaugurated and prayed for by the Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Pastor Bunmi Babs, as can be seen in the pictures below.
The group pledged their desire to take the campaign against illicit drugs to the grassroots, arrest and prosecute offenders with the help of relevant authorities.
From Inquiries, no law exists or has been passed by the Imo House of Assembly for setting up such agency. Two Imo House of Assembly Members who chose to comment anonymously said they were surprised at the development as no bill has been presented to them for the creation of any such body.
