Boko Haram Attack Chad Village For The First Time

 
Boko Haram militants from Nigeria have killed at least five people during an early morning attack in Chad, security officials said.
The officials said Friday he militants attacked a village on the shores of Lake Chad, but were eventually repelled by Chad's army.

It is the first time Boko Haram has carried out an attack in Chad, which has joined a regional offensive against the Islamic militant group.

Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin recently agreed to create a regional force of 8,700 troops to fight Boko Haram.

The extremists have killed thousands of people since launching their insurgency in 2009 and control dozens of towns in northeastern Nigeria.
