The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has congratulated Senator Musiliu Obanikoro on his confirmation as a minister by the Senate while a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili berated the action of the Upper legislative house, describing them as “shameless lot”.

Fayose took to his Twitter page,@GovAyoFayose, to congratulate Obanikoro.

“Congratulations to @MObanikoro as he is confirmed as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the National Assembly,” he posted. He also retweet congratulatory messages from his followers on the micro-blogging site.

Meanwhile Dr. Ezekwesili, does not have kind words for the lawmakers, berating them for their action.

The nomination of Obanikoro by President Goodluck Jonathan, was greeted with protest, especially by Senators from the opposition, All Progressives Congress, following his alleged role in the Ekiti election. The three senators from Lagos state (the state of origin of Obanikoro) also pettitioned the leadership of the Senate, urging for the disqualification of his nomination.

However, the David Mark-led Red Chamber confirmed his nomination, even as APC senators staged a walk-out.
