Jonathan Rejects PDP Offer to Become BOT Chairman
Unlike expected, President Goodluck Jonathan rejected the Peoples Democratic Party’s offer to become the new chairman of the Board of Tru...

It should be noted that shortly after Tony Anenih was resigned from the position, speculations emerged that GEJ would substitute him. It was alleged that after the defeat in the presidential election, Jonathan would need to head the BoT “to remain relevant in post-2015 politics”.
However, on May 25, Monday, the PDP appointed Haliru Mohammed Bello the new chairman.
According to Premium Times, Walid Jibril, BoT secretary, said that President Jonathan had rejected the offer to head the Board. He added that now Bello would act for about two or three months, before the election is conducted to choose a substantive chairman.
It should be noted that a series of resignations in the recent period generated many negative reactions in the political circles.
There were also fears that the emergence of Jonathan as BoT Chairman would eventually make the PDP a regional party.
