Nigerian mothers joined the world on Tuesday, June 16th, in
commemorating the international day for the African child. The day of
the African child was first commemorated in June 16th 1991, fifteen
years after the Soweto uprising in south Africa where hundreds of
students were shot dead by the apartheid regime.
