A yet-to-be identified truck driver has been killed in an accident that occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that the truck, which was conveying glass, collided with a Toyota Corolla on Sunday at Olorunshogo, Mushin.
Aside the dead driver, three other people in the car, were said to have sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, and policemen from the Mushin division, were said to have responded to the incident.
The General Manager of LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency evacuated the wreckage from the road.
He said, “A driver died on Sunday around 4.30am due to a fatal accident that occurred in Mushin. Immediately we were informed, we activated our emergency response plans. All the stakeholders were there. We were able to take the injured to the hospital.
“There was actually a collision between a truck conveying glass, and a corolla car. Three other passengers were moved to the hospital for treatment.”
It was learnt that the family of the deceased had yet to be informed as of press time.
Meanwhile, six shops were reportedly gutted by fire in the Ile Epo market, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
LASEMA and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service were said to have responded to the emergency.
While nobody died in the incident, it was learnt that the fire was caused by an electrical surge around 8pm on Saturday.
The LASEMA boss equally confirmed the incident.
“We were able to curtail the spread of the fire. Our team worked with other rescue agencies to achieve result,” he added.
