Rivers Attorney-General says the court did not pass judgment on the suit

Contrary to the false news report  circulated by Channels Television,  the National  Industrial  Court,  Yenagoa  did not reinstate council chairmen  in Rivers  State  whose elections  were nullified last Thursday by the  Federal High Court, Port Harcourt.

Justice James Agbado-Fishim on Monday simply  adjourned the filed by the sacked  council chairmen  to October 6,2015 for definite hearing.

His ruling  was contained in a certified  true  copy of  Suit  No. NICN/YEN /26/2015, signed by the Court Registrar   Peter Ter Ortese and obtained by Scan  News.

Justice Agbado-Fishim declared : “I have listened to the arguments of all counsels for the parties in this matter. I am of the view that there is need to allow all parties  to file the necessary processes and put all relevant exhibits to support  their applications as well as to react appropriately.

“Therefore by the agreement of all counsels in this matter, this case is adjourned to 06/10/2015 for definite hearing of all pending applications “.

Reacting to the false report which was initiated by the defeated APC Governorship candidate,  Mr Dakuku  Peterside  during  a live radio programme on Nigerian  Info  in Port Harcourt,  Rivers  State  Attorney-General, Emmanuel Aguma  stated that  the  false report was intended to cause chaos in Rivers State.

He said  that  nothing  relating to  the  delivery of judgment was ever canvassed in court as the court papers indicate.

He regretted the irresponsible nature of the reportage of Channels  Television  and some local radio stations aimed at misleading  the public and creating panic among the people.

Aguma added that the National Industrial Court could not have reinstated the sacked council chairmen  as it has no appellate powers over a Federal High  Court.

Dakuku Peterside, APC defeated governorship candidate returned to  Port Harcourt  last weekend with dedicated  reporters from Channels Television and a host of private radio stations programmed to spew falsehood with a view to  instigating violence in the state.
