Cultists set buildings ablaze in Makurdi

A group of suspected cultists in the early hours of Wednesday, stormed the Housing Estate of Dr Alexander Gaadi and set ablaze buildings  of about 20 rooms with property worth millions of naira destroyed.

The estate which is located on Kilometre 5, along Makurdi - Gboko Road, was said to had been invaded by people suspected to be cult members, who were said to be on reprisal mission.
It was gathered that the faction had a suspected cult member allegedly living within the estate in which his factional group killed one person a week before whose wake keep took place  at the time of the incident.

Narrating the ordeal, the younger brother to the  late Dr Gaadi, Mr Davien Aondongu Gaadi, said all his family members were asleep when the incident occurred.

Davien said the suspected cultists used fuel to set the houses ablaze and denied knowledge of any member of his  family ,staying in the apartments to be a member of a cult group.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer,( PPRO), ASP Austin Ezeani,  confirmed the incident, saying it was a reprisal attack by rival cult group.

The PPRO, who also confirmed  the arrest if one of the cultists  in connection with the burning of the estate, said it was revealed through  investigation that the gang was said to be after the cult member  who they alleged took part  in the killing of one of their members.
