Have you ever sent a mail without a subject? Or may be there is a
typographic error? Or lets even say you do n0t wanna send the mail
altogether. Now you are regretting pushing that send button. Hope lost,
you are not happy about it. You wish you can undo the sent action. After
this option was in beta for up to six. Now Gmail has rolled out a
feature that lets you recall a message within 30 seconds of it being
sent. Gmail originally launched the “Undo Send” feature in March
2009, but it was hidden as an experimental “Labs” feature (beta). This
feature was in beta for six years.
In an announcement by google, it says “Previously a popular feature in Gmail Labs, and recently added to Inbox by Gmail, today we’re adding ‘Undo Send’ as a formal setting in Gmail on the web.” Inbox is an app for iOs and Android. It keeps all email well organanised by highlighting important information and bundling similar messages.
But this function is also available for Gmail on the web. Here is how you activate the undo option.
1. Click the gear icon at the top right.
2. Select settings
3. Under General Settings, Check the “Enable Undo Send” option.
4. Set the maximum window time allowed to recall email. Option is available up to 30s.
To recall a message after enabling the “Undo Send” feature, just click on the “Undo Send” text at the top part of the web page once the email is sent. The “Undo Send” option will disappear even if you click on a link within Gmail before the recall time expires so use this feature with caution. “Undo Send” may not work if you are experiencing connection issues too.
But Unfortunately the “Undo Send” feature is not available for the Mobile Gmail App yet, but it will be rolled out soon as reported by Mashable.
