The University of Maiduguri has denied media reports that 70 of its
lecturers have submitted their resignation letters over the incessant
attacks on the institution by Boko Haram insurgents.
This is according to a statement signed by UNIMAID's Director, Radio and Public Relations, Prof. Danjuma Gambo, on Thursday in Maiduguri.
“Our attention has been drawn to a false and misleading report indicating that 70 lecturers resigned their appointments due to incessant insurgents’ attacks on the university.
“The management wishes to clarify that it has not received any resignation letter from academic or non-academic staff since the attack took place.
“Having successfully completed the second semester 2016/2017 examinations, academic staff (members) are rather busy processing results, preparatory to promoting and graduating students,” Gambo said.
