The English Premier League is now in full swing- as clubs all over England start their battle for survival and glory for the next nine months.
On Friday night, Arsenal rallied to defeat Leicester City 4-3 despite Leicester City's dogged performance with new boy, Lacazzete, giving the gunners much needed inspiration while on Saturday, Chelsea made the worst possible start of their EPL title defense as they were beaten 2-3 by Burnley at Stamford Bridge- a match Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were both given red cards.
Former Man U player, Wayne Rooney making his long awaited return to Everton, scored the only solo goal of the game in the Merseyside's club win over Stoke City. The England international, 31, arrived on a free from Manchester United with plenty to prove after a disappointing final season at Old Trafford.
Huddersfield, freshly promoted from the Championship, wrecked Crystal Palace with savagery armoury as Steve Mounie helped his side to a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park.
Meanwhile, Southampton, despite acquisition of new coach, Mauricio Pellegrino and striker, Tammy Abraham from Chelsea, managed a bore draw with Swansea at St Mary's stadium.
But all the talking points will be from Chelsea's loss to Burnley, a match Eden Hazard (linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid) and Diego Costa (banned from the squad) were both absent eve though new signing, Alvaro Morata bagged a goal in his debut Epl game.
With Matic's sale to Man United,it was clear in this game that Chelsea lack enough depth to sustain a sustained push in the Epl and Champions League this season.
Is this the beginning of the end in Chelsea's Epl defence, or was this game just a bluff that they'll easily get over?
Time will tell!
Watford 3 - 3 Liverpool
Chelsea 2 - 3 Burnley
Crystal Palace 0 - 3 Huddersfield Town
Everton 1 - 0 Stoke City
Southampton 0 - 0 Swansea City
West Bromwich Albion 1 - 0 AFC Bournemouth
Brighton & Hove Albion 0-2 Manchester City
