The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has advised Nigerians who intend to
buy imported vehicles to verify the import documents of the vehicles
before paying.
Bukar Amajam, the area controller, federal operation unit, in Owerri, said Customs would confiscate goods or vehicles without genuine papers.
He said due to the actions of “unscrupulous agents”, unsuspecting buyers were usually served fake documents, thereby deceiving them to believe that their customs duties and levies were fully paid for.
This has led to the confiscation of many vehicles of recent, he said.
Earlier in the year, the service released these numbers for quick verification of customs duty papers- 094621597, 094621598 and 094621599.
