INEC yet to declare results in Bayelsa

The results of Saturday’s  presidential and National Assembly elections in President Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa, are yet to be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The elections were conducted in the eight local government areas of the state including Brass, Ekeremor, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw, and Yenagoa.

The collation centre for the state is the council secretariat of Yenagoa Local Government at Ovom, opposite the High Court of Justice Complex along the Mbiama-Yenagoa Road in the state capital,Yenagoa.

Accredited journalists and observers monitoring the exercise had been waiting at the collation centre since about 9am Sunday.

As at 3pm on Sunday when this report was being filed, INEC officials who conducted the exercise in the local government areas had yet to arrive at the collation centre.
