Voting ongoing in Lagos as PDP, APC supporters clash in Alimosho

 
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos on Sunday said voting is ongoing in the Presidential elections rescheduled in 90 polling units in five of the 20 local government areas of the state.

The commission’s Head of Public Affairs, Femi Akinbiyi, the state Head of Public Affairs of the commission told Daily Independent that electoral officers are busy doing their job in the affected areas while security agencies are on ground to maintain law and order.

He said the affected council areas were Alimosho, Eti- Osa, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo and Somolu.
According to him, elections are ongoing in 21 polling units across Shasha/Akowonjo, Egbeda/Alimosho, Olofin, Igando/Egan, Ipaja North, Ipaja South, Ayobo/Ijan Village and Abule Egba/Meiran/Alagbado Registration Areas of Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA).

Also, in Eti Osa LGA, he said that elections were ongoing in five polling units in Ajah/Sangotedo registration area and 57 polling units at Oworonsoki registration area of Kosofe LGA.

He added that elections were ongoing in five polling units in Orile-Oshodi registration area of Oshodi-isolo LGA and two polling units in Bajulaiye Registration Area of Somolu LGA.

“In Alimosho Local Government in Shasha/ Akowonjo registration area and also in Egbeda/ Alimosho registration area. We also have in Olofin ward. There is also voting at Igando/ Egan. We also have in Ipaja North and South. We also have in Ayobo, Abule- Egba, Aboru, Meiran, Alagbado registration area. Those are the registration areas for Alimosho”.

“For Eti- Osa, we have at Ajah, Sangotedo. At Kosofe, we have election in Oworonshoki registration area. We have in Oshodi- Isolo also and at Orile- Oshodi registration area”.

Also fighting broke out between supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratoc Party (PDP) at Akesan in Egan Igando area of Alimosho Local Government.

Daily Independent learnt that a supporter of the PDP was seriously stabbed in the arm by some hoodlums suspected to be loyal to APC and he is currently on admission at Santa Maria Hospital.
