A
hungry 4-month old baby, whose mother was charged with fraudulent
fund-raising, illegally absorbing public deposit and crime concealment
with 33 other people, got breastfed by Hao Lina, a policewoman in China, an act that has touched the hearts of millions.
This
happened at Shanxi Jinzhong Intermediate People’s Court in Central
China, after Lina Hao showed concern after the accused’s baby began to
cry during the trial. With the permission of the mother, Ms. Hoa, also a
new mother, was left in charge of the defendant’s child who she
breastfed.
Ms.
Hao continued, before asking the mother’s permission to comfort her
child. Following this, Ms. Hao found a quiet corner with the child and
breastfed the baby. While Ms. Hao was merely thinking of the child’s
wellbeing, another colleague of Ms. Hao was touched by her generosity
and captured the moment on film.
‘The baby wouldn’t stop crying
and we were all worried,’ said Ms Hao. ‘I am a new mother, I could feel
how anxious the child’s mother would have been. All I thought about was
to try my best and comfort the tiny baby.’
The
baby’s gender has not been revealed. The baby’s mother, Lee Moumou, was
so touched by Ms. Hao’s generosity that she cried after she left the
court. Ms. Moumou pleaded guilty to the charges.
Commenting on the
praises she had received from the public, a humble Ms Hao said: ‘I
believe every police officer would do the same. If I had been the
mother, I would have hoped someone to help my baby too.’
The
pictures of Ms. Hao were posted to the court’s official website and
social media accounts before it was featured across China’s various news
publications.
