A suicidal 12-year-old boy jumped off a 30ft bridge in Virginia
Saturday, killing a 22-year-old woman who was driving her SUV, Virginia
State Police said.
The 12-year-old schoolboy suffered life-threatening injuries, after the tragic incident which killed 22-year-old Marisa Harris.
Harris' boyfriend was also in the car with her when the incident happened, he was able to steer the car off of the highway and stop it. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Her boyfriend was not injured.
Marisa lived in Arlington and was studying clinical counselling at Marymount University.
Her family said that she wanted to work with children with severe behavioural problems and was a high-achieving student.
Marisa’s mother Leigh Miller said: ‘She was caring – I mean she had an absolute love for children.’
She added: ‘She was awesome. I miss her so much.’
Her father, Patrick Harris, said she was outgoing. He said: ‘She was fearless, she was absolutely fearless. She was loved by her friends, she was dearly loved by her family, she was admired by her peers, she was just a shining star.’
